Amongst impressions

Dear visitors...

Last week was our first, here in Gaziantep, or how the local people call it: Antep. This regional centre is getting more and more developed, undoubtedly. Old buildings are renewed or modernized and due to fast population growth, totally new districts grow out of the ground. Modern commercial buildings can be found just a few steps away from traditional craft workshops. This cityscape is what we received on our first day. We're sure our so called second home will have a lot to show us during five months.

Some impressions of the week:

It's not always easy to find someone's place in another country. Even though, you're not a tourist - as it's your home for 5 months - you can't act like you are a resident, curious looks always remind you for that. Nevertheless, most of the time these glances are friendly and welcoming.

With these thoughts a week passed, taking photos about discovered and hidden beauties and secrets of the city, sometimes completed with getting lost.

We've tasted (typical foods) and got tasted (by mosquitoes), muezzin creates our daily rythm and by nights, in the cool weather we share nargile, çay and kahve (turkish, obviously). And last, but certainly not least: Atatürk's look follows us to everywhere.
