Immerse yourself in a new culture

After some hiatus, it’s high time to report about latest happenings in Gaziantep. Our activities are more and more concrete. Our hands work with little stones, glues and clamps whereas our brain works for learning turkish and teaching French or English, sharing some knowledge and trying to understand the different culture. Other pronunciation, other manners and habits...

On the 3rd week within the framework of mosaic course, there was a festival organized by local handicraft makers, where we also appeared and showed our products to tourists and curious locals. We realized the patriotism and traditionalism in each of the crafts.

Conversation in English with high-school students started this week, as well. We broke the ice by talking about ourselves, as well as about our countries and traditions. Some teachers even left us alone in the classroom.

Now, we are more familiar with Gaziantep and discover some artistic activities (exhibitions, festival...). Gaziantep is a city that is ready to rise and flourish, that wants more government university (just one for more than 25000 students in 2009!), more tourism, more arts and culture...

Spicy food still plays tricks with our stomachs but Gaziantep has no lack of good product!

We still meet some kind and nice people, here, the heat is not only in the weather... People are very helpful and welcoming. You're never alone, and we can feel that they are very happy to meet foreign people like us.
